A lecture for teachers of environmental education at the SEVER Center for Environmental Education, Maršov, August 23rd, 2013
Martin Říha, one of the authors of the publication "The Environment of the Czech Republic" with the subtitle "Its development up until the end of 1989" (an inventory of the state of the environment inherited from the communist regime), embarked on a review of its condition and development during the subsequent periods until now. He concludes that we have not made great progress since then, and many original program resolutions have not been fulfilled even after 23 years. Due to economic and social problems and partly due to improvements, the environment has also been put on the back burner of public interests ,. Therefore, he writes, environmental education is a long-term and extremely important task for achieving sustainability in life.
