Jana Dlouhá Copyright (c) 2019 Jana Dlouhá https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2020-01-02 2020-01-02 14 2 10.14712/18023061.601 Acceptance of Selected Returning Birds and Mammals through the Eyes of Secondary School Students https://www.envigogika.cuni.cz/index.php/Envigogika/article/view/597
The presented study discusses the phenomenon of acceptance of returning higher vertebrate species to the Czech countryside, both from the perspective of grammar school students, who can further study the environmental protection and facilitate the return of some vertebrates, and students of secondary forestry schools, expected to engage in hunting care in the future. The attitude of students and young people, in general, is very important for the acceptance of the discussed species, as not only the politicians and publicists have the right to influence the general public, but rather the specialists educated in the field should participate in the decision-making process affecting the future of these animals.

Overall, the work develops a hypothesis that people may have misconceptions about the return of some vertebrates as, rather than focusing on general facts, they are influenced by frequently hyped points, such as the fear and concern of aggrieved farmers, the overpopulating of some species and the infectious diseases that some animals may transmit.

A questionnaire was designed and circulated to obtain the required data. For general simplification, only three options were presented in the questionnaire, either positive, negative, or neutral attitude as further structuring could compromise the clarity of the results.
Jan Andreska Adéla Hartlová Matouš Žmolil Copyright (c) 2019 Jan Andreska https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2019-12-09 2019-12-09 14 2 10.14712/18023061.597 Acceptance of the return of the aurochs to the Kokořínsko PLA Mácha Region https://www.envigogika.cuni.cz/index.php/Envigogika/article/view/598
The return of large mammals is usually accompanied with various concerns, which does not differ even with the considered return of the bison to the landscape, which raises the need for residents of the region to cope with its presence. The theoretical part explains the significance of early identification of science talent and introduces briefly Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence and naturalist intelligence as the starting point. The empirical part validates the diagnostic tool on the basis of data from 176 completed questionnaires. The reliability of the test is verified using the Cronbach Alpha coefficient and Spearman-Brown formula. The Pearson correlation test confirms a high interdependence of the questions in the diagnostic tool. The Welch variant of the t-test shows that the results depend on neither gender nor age, which can be interpreted as depending on an innate disposition, i.e. science talent. Thus, the diagnostic tool can be used for early identification of science talent.
Kateřina Jančaříková Copyright (c) 2019 Kateřina Jančaříková https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2019-12-28 2019-12-28 14 2 10.14712/18023061.595 Naturalist Intelligence: How to Recognize and Support of Pupils and Students Gifted in Natural Sciences in the Czech Republic https://www.envigogika.cuni.cz/index.php/Envigogika/article/view/603
The article introduces Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences and the so-called intelligence spectrum. It focuses on the so-called eighth – Naturalist Intelligence. It presents a research overview of how Naturalist Intelligence manifests itself. This overview is a useful tool and basis for development of diagnostics of this talent. The article discusses the situation of a child with naturalist intelligence in their class, school and family. It draws attention to the issue of assessment and advocates the idea that assessment should be fair with respect to all intelligences (such as portfolio assessment). It points out the fact that development of naturalist intelligence is nowadays impossible without extracurricular and free time activities. It also introduces two such activities – Czech Children’s Congress and the project Landscape of Our Home. The article presents 9 casuistries (selected from literature and from the author’s own research records).
Kateřina Jančaříková Copyright (c) 2019 Kateřina Jančaříková https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2019-12-28 2019-12-28 14 2 10.14712/18023061.603 Review of book: Sokolíčková, Z.
